Boots shoppers are snapping up a five-star rated electric toothbrush that has been slashed by £300. Dentists and dental hygienists recommend electric toothbrushes over traditional toothbrushes for a deeper clean that will keep expensive dental appointments to a minimum, and keep teeth as clean and healthy as possible.
With a dwindling number of dentists now available on the NHS, and the average price for a private filling now costing between £40 and £250, according to Which, an electric toothbrush is a good investment to help keep long-term dental costs low.
Now, Boots shoppers can save £300 on one of its most highly-rated professional electric toothbrushes. Those who have tried the Oral-B iO8 Electric Toothbrush say it makes their teeth feel as clean as a dental visit.
Usually £450, the Oral-B iO8 Electric Toothbrush has been reduced in a limited time deal to £170 - but there’s still a way to get even more money off. The toothbrush, available in black onyx, white alabaster or violet ametrine , comes with a limited edition travel case and promises ‘the most thorough, gentle and quiet clean of your life’.
The device combines a round brush head from Oral-B with gentle micro-vibrations for a fresh, clean mouthfeel and healthier gums in one week, with customers saying it made their teeth feel like they’d just left a hygienist appointment. The toothbrush has racked up more than 150 five star reviews , compared to 12 one star, rivalling brands like Phillips, with shoppers regretting having not bought one sooner.
One said: “Arrived quickly and the brush itself is a game changer. My teeth feel so clean after a dental visit.” A second added: “I upgraded from my still working electric toothbrush as its performance was waning. WOW - I hadn't realised I should have done this a while ago. Huge difference and definitely worth the price, especially on sale.”
“These toothbrushes were highly recommended by my dentist and oh my days was she right!” wrote a third. “You get a genuine just been to the hygienist clean after the first use. I bought it on the special offer which was less than half price so definitely worth the investment. So good that I got the Hubby one soon after and ordered replacement heads at half price.”
The main subject surrounding the negative reviews concerns the toothbrush’s battery life. One customer explained: “Amazing teeth clean however if you travel remember to pack you charger every trip. I brush my teeth twice a day for around 2min 30secs and it only lasts 5 days. I would expected a lot more after spending £200 on a toothbrush and knowing how long my old oral b’s lasted.”
The Oral B device features six smart modes to personalise your brushing, including Daily Clean, Sensitive, Gum Care, Intense Clean, Whitening, Super Sensitive, as well as a smart pressure sensor that will alert you whether you’re brushing too hard, too softly or with just the right amount of pressure.
According to the price comparison site Trolley.co.uk, which is sponsored by Money Saving Expert, it’s the cheapest price for the toothbrush ever. Meanwhile, alternatives include Philips Sonicare Series 7900 Advanced Whitening Toothbrush, which is currently reduced down to £99.99 from £249.99, and for couples, the Philips Sonicare Series 3100 Toothbrush - Dual Pack Sugar Rose and Black, which is now £84.99 instead of £139.99.
