Boots customers have been warned about a recall of a popular food supplement due to undeclared allergens.
All batches and pack sizes up to and including March 2024 are being recalled from a brand sold in the health and beauty retailer, under the name ‘Aguulp.’
Food safety authorities found it contains a sugar derived from milk that has not been declared on the label, which could make some consumers ill.
Anyone who is intolerant of milk or lactose is advised not to ingest the product, which is sold exclusively in Boots and on the Aguulp website.
A notice issued by the Food Safety Authority read: “Aguulp is recalling all pack sizes of Aguulp for Gut natural mint flavouring because it contains an ingredient derived from lactose (a sugar naturally found in milk) that is not declared on the ingredients list.
“This may make the affected product unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant to milk or lactose.
“The product is sold online at Boots Pharmacy and on the Aguulp website.”
