Boots Advantage Card shoppers to get 'less cash back' amid change to points scheme

Boots shoppers who hold an Advantage Card are being told that there are changes coming to the way that they shop.

In an e-mail to its customers, the high street chain announced officially that they will be slashing the value of its Advantage Card points and instead offering discounts on its own-brand products.

This means that from May, shoppers will get 3p worth of points for every pound they spend, instead of the current 4p.

Boots said the move was in response to customer feedback, reports the BBC, and added that customers would be able to save 10 per cent in store on six thousand of its own-brand products.

Boots' Price Advantage allows cardholders to access lower prices on certain products much like how people with a Tesco Clubcard can benefit from better deals and lower prices by being signed up to the retailers own scheme..

On their website, Boots said: "We understand that more customers are looking to access instant savings, so offering 10% off our Boots own brand range will give even more opportunities to save.

"We understand that many customers still love saving up their points for big purchases in the future, so will continue to offer 3p worth of points for every £1 spent at Boots."

The change will come into force on May 23 of this year. However shoppers are being told that they do not need to worry about their current points with anything on their card at the point of the changeover remaining unaffected.

Students can still benefit from a 10 per cent discount storewide alongside the extra 10 per cent for Boots branded products.

Sebastian James, managing director of Boots UK & ROI, said: “Our focus on giving customers our best-ever value to help with cost-of-living pressures, as well as continued investment in our digital capability and in updating our store estate, has resulted in increased retail sales and market share growth for the seventh consecutive quarter.

“Our Black Friday and Christmas performance was particularly pleasing, and I would like to thank the teams for their huge efforts in bringing our customers genuinely fantastic offers.”
