St Mirren know they are in safe hands for the foreseeable after their No 1 Trevor Carson committed his future to the Paisley club.
The Buddies have been working hard behind the scenes over the last few weeks to get key players signed up to longer deals.
That includes the likes of influential midfielder Mark O’Hara, who has stood in as Saints skipper this season when club captain Joe Shaughnessy hasn’t been playing, and flying full-back Ryan Strain, who has hugely impressed in his debut campaign in Paisley.
A new deal for St Mirren keeper Carson has also been a key target – with the Northern Ireland international shining between the sticks on numerous occasions in his first season at the
club.
And the 35-year-old is reportedly set to put pen to paper on a contract extension that should see him remain a Buddie until the summer of 2025.
The experienced shot-stopper has quickly become a fans’ favourite after replacing talented Englishman Jak Alnwick, who joined Cardiff City last year.
Carson has picked up seven clean sheets in the Premiership, helping the club to fly high in sixth spot. The keeper has pulled off some incredible saves at pivotal moments throughout the campaign to keep them in line for a top-six finish.
The Saints are also hoping to persuade powerful striker Curtis Main to stay at the club. The bustling forward’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with boss Stephen Robinson determined to keep hold of the 30-year-old who has notched six goals so far in all competitions this season.
Other first-team St Mirren players whose current contracts are set to end this summer include defenders Charles Dunne, Richard Tait and Shaughnessy, and experienced midfielder Ryan Flynn.
Their futures remain unclear, although Robinson has hinted a deal for Flynn is on the cards with the 34-year-old having started coaching with the club’s Academy.
Play-maker Greg Kiltie has already agreed a new contract – signing his extension to the summer of 2025 in December.
