Annan manager Peter Murphy is celebrating the return to light training of defender Matty Douglas after nine months out with a cruciate ligament injury.
The stopper was crocked against Stenhousemuir last season and following surgery to the ligament spent a long gruelling road back to recovery.
Murphy said: “We are delighted to see him taking part in training, albeit it is non-contact and only light stuff, but he is back among the boys and that will give him a tremendous lift.
“He may go back into light contact stuff later in the week and then we’ll see what happens after that.
“Matty suffered a bad one against Stenny last season and it has been a long road back for him and he has shown the mental strength to get there.”
Turning his attentions to this weekend’s game to the champions elect Stirling Albion, Murphy (below, left) knows it is a hard task as the Binos only need a point to clinch the title and the step up to League One.
He said: “We were hoping they would do it in midweek at Dumbarton in their re-arranged game with a win and it would be party time on Saturday, but it ended in a draw so now it falls to this game at their ground.
“So it will be a totally different environment to be playing in.
“But it is an exciting time of the season in a lot of divisions with a lot to play for.”
