Bookshop's comical display of Prince Harry's book spare leaves social media users in stitches

A bookshop who set up a comical display of Prince Harry's new book Spare next to Bella Mackie's book How to Kill Your Family has left social media users in stitches.

Bert's books deliberately organised the books as a 'light-hearted joke' to mark the first day of sales of the prince's memoir in the UK yesterday, Wales Online reports.

The display which was uploaded to Twitter by the team has now gone viral with over 2.7m views as many people praised the bookshop for its humour.

However Manager Alex Call, 35 admits that although most people found the situation funny others have criticised them for being mean.

He said: "To be honest it was a light-hearted joke with the first customers of the day and to be fair Bella Mackie's book was already in our window.

"It was the best-selling book in our shop and we thought it would make everyone laugh and it has.

"Most people have taken it in the spirit it was intended but some people think we are being a bit mean about it."

Across the UK, eager shoppers were seen queuing outside bookshops yesterday morning to get their hands on the first sold copies.

However, Alex said there has been no rush at his shop with only a few copies being sold.

He added: "We have sold a couple but it is quiet in the shop - it always is on a Tuesday morning."

Many social media users were amused by his witty display that was posted on Twitter and shared their reactions.

One person remarked: "Now I am going to spend all day thinking of other books to pair."

Another joked: "Someone give them a prize for the best window display."

A third praised: "This is how clever I aspire to be."
