The King’s Coronation is set to see celebrations, street parties and barbecues up and down the country during the first weekend in May. And many shoppers will be looking for themed outfits and party looks to wear on the bank holiday weekend.
According to fashion retailer Boohoo, Google searches for ‘Union Jack tops’ have been up 3,200 per cent this year, ahead of next month’s event.
To celebrate the momentous event, the fashion house has launched a Coronation Weekend edit, featuring everything you need from royal-inspired décor to patriotic tees.

Boohoo has some of the most affordable options available for a Coronation party, with three different styles of Union Jack t-shirts for £7.20 each. Tucked into a midi skirt or a pair of mom jeans and white trainers, it’s the ultimate bank holiday BBQ uniform and won’t break the bank.
But if you’re after something a little more subtle but still suitably themed, they’ve also picked out a number of red, white and blue outfits, from cosy blue tracksuits to red tailored powersuits to meet every style and dress code.
Shoppers can also pick up party essentials like bunting, flags, novelty glasses and bopper headbands all for under a tenner. But we’re particularly fond of the £18 Ginger Ray tread bus stand, prime for serving afternoon tea to your guests, with crown drinks markers to top your prosecco available for £4.50.
They’re not the only retailer to be stocking up on Coronation essentials, though, with Asda currently having a sequined Union Jack tee for £9, and an all-over flag print dress for £18, with matching children’s versions also available.
Meanwhile, M&S’s Coronation collection features over 100 items across kids, mens, womens and homeware. As well as outfits - including men’s t-shirts for £16 - there are also pyjamas, bedding, cufflinks, cushions and candles all part of the celebratory line.
Prices start from £5 and they’ve even included afternoon tea sets and hampers perfect for celebrating the big day with your family.
King Charles' coronation will take place next month, with preparations underway for the historic occasion.
The coronation will take place on Saturday May 6, with the following Monday, May 8, declared as a bank holiday, creating a three-day weekend.
