Bono has secret Hollywood star staying with him in plush Dublin mansion

Tom Hanks has been staying at his pal Bono’s plush Dublin mansion while in Ireland.

The Forrest Gump star, 66, is enjoying sea views as a guest at the U2 frontman’s home on Vico Road – just a stone’s throw from Enya’s castle.

The two-time Oscar winner is in town for the Dalkey Book Festival where he drew a capacity crowd on Friday night.

The Hollywood legend discussed his novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, with Belfast-born presenter Andrea Catherwood at the sold out event.

A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror that rather than stay in a hotel he accepted an invite to stay at the Dalkey pad of Bono, 63.

The U2 frontman will join Fintan O’Toole tonight to discuss his own autobiography-through-music, Surrender.

The insider said: “Tom normally stays in hotels when in Ireland but this time around he’s staying with Bono.

“The two are involved with this year’s book festival so Bono invited Tom to stay with him. It’s very handy, walking distance really from where the talks are taking place.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Bono brings him to his local pub Finnegan’s for a drink.”

Tom’s book spans several decades and has been described by his publishers as a “wildly ambitious” story about the making of film.

  • The annual literary festival, which was set up by David McWilliams and Sian Smyth in 2010, runs until tonight.
