Bongo's Bingo announces Newcastle dates for January and February

Cardboard cut-outs, fluffy pink unicorns, singalongs and dance-offs - and not forgetting a few games of bingo of course - are the trademark stamp of a touring craze which has announced another run of events in Newcastle.

The award-winning Bongo's Bingo, whose regular visits to the city had been curtailed during the pandemic, now has new dates lined up for January and February.

It will be delivering five more weird and wonderful nights out at the Boiler Shop in the city set to a genre-mixing musical backdrop which it sums up as "imagine N Trance’s Set You Free, filtered via S Club and Gerry Cinnamon, to en masse Karaoke warbles of Total Eclipse of the Heart".

Music is always a big part of a Bongo’s Bingo night which also sees crowds involved in renditions of the likes of Mr Brightside while playing bingo for a chance to win the likes of those toy unicorns, cut-outs of celebrities and other random prizes such as mobility scooters.

Billed as the "the ultimate party for everyone aged from 18 to 94", the no-holds-barred Bongo’s Bingo is embarking upon a tour of 40 locations across the UK, taking in Newcastle on January 20 and 27-28 then February 17 and 25.

Creator Jonny Bongo, who in 2020 spoke to Chroniclelive about the effects of the pandemic on his tours, said: “Now Christmas is done and dusted we have got an epic run of shows coming up in Newcastle.

"It’s such a class venue at Boiler Shop and the Geordie crowds there go absolutely wild, so having these shows ready to go is amazing to chase away the winter blues."

He added: "We are really looking forward to 2022 being a brilliant year for everyone and this is the perfect way to get us all started.”
