Oasis legend Bonehead has thanked fans for their support after revealing that he's been diagnosed with cancer. The rhythm guitarist, whose real name is Paul Arthurs, announced on Twitter yesterday (Tuesday April 26) that he was starting treatment for tonsil cancer.
He wrote on Twitter: “Just to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while. I have been diagnosed with tonsil cancer." He added: "But the good news is it’s treatable and I will be starting a course of treatment soon. I will keep you posted how it is going.”
Paul, 56, said he was taking a break from playing and was 'gutted' to be missing gigs with former Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher. "I'm gutted I'm missing the gigs with Liam and the band," he said.

And he signed off by saying: "Have the best summer and ejoy the gigs if you're going. I'll see you soon." Liam, 49, responded to the news by sending his love to his pal.
“Sending BIG love to the 1 n only Bonehead and his family wishing you a speedy recovery," he tweeted. "We’re all thinking of you rasta you’ll be back on stage bfore you can say r we doing Colombia.”
Today the Manchester musician tweeted to thank well-wishers, saying he had been boosted by all the messages. "Thank you so much for all your messages of love and support, it’s a massive help," he said.
"I can’t reply to you all but I’ve read every one, and it means so much. My turn to throw the love back at you now. Thank you and I’ll see you when I finish my treatment."
Bonehead is known to Oasis fans as a founding member of the Shakermaker hitmakers Oasis. Oasis was formed after Liam Gallagher joined Paul's band The Rain as lead singer.
