Bommai: State Government has nothing to do with campaign for banning Waqf Board

Responding to Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik’s campaign for banning the Waqf Board in the State, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that his Government had nothing to do with the campaign.

“My Government has nothing to do with the campaign. Our duty is to maintain law and order. All are equal before the Government. Different sections of people follow their faith and traditions. But, we, as a Government, work as per the law making no discrimination between communities,” Mr. Bommai said during his brief interaction with presspersons at Basavakalyan in Bidar district on Saturday.

When asked about All-India Congress Committee secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala’s series of recent tweets questioning the role of BJP Government in the State in the Bitcoin scam, Mr. Bommai said that he had already said everything in the Legislative Assembly.

“If he [Mr. Surjewala] has any specific information, let him give it. Tweeting without any substantial material is meaningless,” he said.
