Bommai says he will go to elections with report card

Exuding confidence over his performance as Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he will go to people with his report card and seek their blessings in the next Assembly elections.

“I have announced many progressive programmes and projects in the recent budget. By translating them into reality, I will place the report card before people and seek their blessings in the next Assembly elections. I am confident that we will come to power in 2023 and that I will sit on the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha,” Mr. Bommai said.

He was addressing a public gathering at HPS College Grounds in Harapanahalli, Vijayanagara district, on Sunday. The event was organised to celebrate Sri Ram Navami and the 60th birth anniversary of BJP legislator G. Karunakar Reddy.

“My Government demonstrated its commitment to the development of Kalyana Karnataka by allocating ₹3,000 crore to Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board. We will give approval to all action plans for the entire amount by the end of this month and complete the projects within the end of the year. The previous government provided ₹1,500 crore but the amount was never used in the same year. We will put an end to such practice,” Mr. Bommai said.

The Chief Minister added that he has directed the officials concerned to complete all procedures for the commencement of work on the Chigateri water project for providing water to 107 villages. “Once all the procedures are completed, I myself will come and offer Bhumi Puja for the project,” he said.

Unleashing a verbal attack on the Congress, the Chief Minister said that the grand old party suffered a humiliating defeat in the last Assembly elections despite the introduction of several Bhagya schemes, which he said, never reached the people.

“The Congress Government failed to deliver on its promises in its five years of rule. Corruption and pilferage even in the procurement of articles for student hostels of the backward communities in the Social Welfare Department exposed the hypocrisy of the Congress. They committed the crime of depriving the Dalit students of their rights,” Mr. Bommai said.

Obliquely referring to Congress dominance in the undivided Ballari district, Mr. Bommai commended Mr. Karunakar Reddy, G. Somashekhar Reddy, G. Janardhan Reddy and B. Sriramulu for raising their voices against such dominance and also, expanding the BJP base in the district.

“Mr. Karunakar Reddy strove hard for the overall development of Harapanahalli constituency. His commitment to the progress of his constituency is unquestionable. People should continue to bless him,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Sriramulu, Parliamentarian G.M Siddeshwara, Mr. Somashekar Reddy, Mr. Karunakar Reddy and Mr. Janardhan Reddy (former Ministers) and others were present.
