Bomb disposal experts have been called to a Scots beach after the discovery of an unexploded device.
Specialist officers are expected to descend onto Singing Sands beach in Ardnamurchan, Highlands, to deal with the device later this evening.
Coastguard teams in Stornoway were alerted to the incident at 10.14am today. They have erected a cordon around the area as they wait for the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) to attend the incident.
There is no threat to the wider public.
A spokeswoman from Stornoway Coastguard said: “We received the call at 10.14 today.
“The Salen CRT have gone out and cordoned it off and we’re waiting for the EOD to come and dispose of it.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were alerted by the coastguard of an unexploded device found near Ardnamurchan at around 5.25pm on Saturday, July 9.
“A cordon has been put in place by the coastguard and there is no threat to the wider public.”
