Bomb disposal experts were called to a Lanarkshire railway station after a "small" explosive device - thought to be a World War 2 era grenade - was discovered in the area.
Cops and a specialist explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team raced to Greenfaulds train station in Cumbernauld at around 3.30pm on Wednesday.
It is understood that the device, which was found in a grassy part beside the station serving the southern end of the town, was an unexploded WW2 bomb, the Daily Record reports.
Police Scotland did not comment on the viability of the explosive - but insisted that it posed "no threat" to the local community.
Locals took to social media to comment on the incident.
One said: "Absolute s*** myself having a police officer run like Usain Bolt towards my car telling me to get out the area NOW."
Another added: "Never seen so many police cars outside the city."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called around 3.30pm on Wednesday, 13 April, following a report of a small ordnance item found in a grassy area near Greenfaulds Train Station in Cumbernauld.
"EOD was contacted and the item was removed.
"There was no threat to the community."
