Bomb scare: Mumbai-Howrah Mail receives hoax bomb threat

New Delhi: The Mumbai-Howrah Mail on Monday received a bomb threat. The threat message was received by the Central Railway's control room at 4am, railway officials said.   


According to the Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), the train received a threat claiming a timer bomb would be used to blow it up.

Thoroughly checked
Subsequently, the train, bearing 12809 number, was stopped at Jalgaon station in Maharashtra and thoroughly checked. However, no suspicious item was found inside the train.

Following the search, the train was allowed to complete its journey.

Air India flight diverted

Earlier in a separate case, an Air India flight operating from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi following a security concern arising out of a bomb threat.

Mumbai airport received a message on X (formerly known as Twitter) regarding the threat in the flight bound to New York. The message was conveyed to security agencies in Delhi and the call was taken to divert the aircraft to Delhi.
