Bolton Wanderers team news vs Crewe Alex confirmed as eight changes made & Eoin Toal handed debut

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has made eight changes from his side to take on Crewe Alex this evening in the Papa Johns Trophy.

The Cheshire side make the short journey to the University of Bolton Stadium this evening for a 7pm kick-off. It is the start of the proceedings in Group B of the Northern section for Wanderers.

Tranmere Rovers and Leeds United's under-21s are the other sides in the group. The top two will qualify for the next stage of the competition.

Ian Evatt has switched around his squad this evening as the cup competition gets under way. He has opted to make eight changes.

Joel Dixon starts as goalkeeper. Eoin Toal has been handed his debut in the heart of the back three, with Will Aimson and George Johnston either side of him.

Gethin Jones starts as right wing-back, with Jack Iredale on the left. In central midfield, Josh Sheehan returns from a ruptured ACL that has kept him out since November.

He is partnered in central midfield by George Thomason, with Kieran Sadlier in the number 10 role. Upfront, Dapo Afolayan is partenred by Amadou Bakayoko.

On the bench this evening for Wanderers are MJ Williams, Ricardo Santos, Dion Charles, Aaron Morley, Conor Bradley, Kyle Dempsey and Elias Kachunga.
