Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Sheffield Wednesday - MJ Williams and Will Aimson good

James Trafford - 7

One of his busier games since arriving on loan in January from Manchester City with key saves from Barry Bannan and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing in the first half. Could not do much with Owls goal but did what he had to in second half.

Gethin Jones - 6

Deployed at right back with captain's armband in absence of Ricardo Santos and had hard afternoon's work on the right flank against Wednesday's attack and was booked in the first half.

Will Aimson - 7.5

Came into the team for injured Ricardo Santos and grew into the game. A few errors in possession but some good interceptions and grew into encounter in big improvement from midweek Portsmouth showing.

George Johnston - 7

Booked midway through first half after bringing down Lee Gregory but generally had a solid match against Wednesday, with several usual interceptions and blocks.

Declan John - 6

A few mislaid passes almost cost Wanderers dear in the first half as the Welshman returned to left-back. Taken off midway through the second half.

MJ Williams - 8

Returned to starting XI in the heart of midfield and made fairly decent contribution, helping to break up play against the Owls. Possession at times could have been better but scored crucial goal, his first for Wanderers.

Aaron Morley - 7

Teasing free kick which nearly gave Wanderers the advantage towards end of first half. Solid game and put in corner which led to Williams equalising.

Elias Kachunga - 6

Played on the right flank of the attack and was booed throughout by travelling supporters. The odd bright moment from the former Sheffield Wednesday man and won the corner which led to the equaliser.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 6.5

Operated in the number 10 role and held up play well in that position, dropping deep to help out in midfield but missed great chance just before half-time. Taken off before the hour mark.

Kieran Sadlier - 6

Put in a couple of decent deliveries in the first half from the left flank and another for Charles after the break. Was withdrawn from the action with some 20 minutes left

Dion Charles - 6

Worked and toiled hard upfront as always but with few opportunities. Saw goal ruled out for offside.

Substitutes:

Amadou Bakayoko - 6

Replaced Bodvarsson before the hour. Had positive impact off the bench as Wanderers sought opening goal and the odd bright moment.

Liam Gordon - 6

Came on for John for the final half an hour or so. Booked for late challenge on Jack Hunt before full-time.

Xavier Amaechi - 5

Hamburg loanee given rare chance off the bench but did not make much impact.
