Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Cheltenham Town - Aaron Morley, Declan John & Dapo Afolayan good

James Trafford - 7

Produced fantastic save to deny Alfie May just before half-time and was in the right place at the right time throughout, as well as showing confidence and dominance when coming for aerial balls, but made error which led to Cheltenham's goal.

Gethin Jones - 7

Played as right-back and also on the right of a back three as Wanderers appeared to change formations throughout. Got forward to support attacks when he could but a solid afternoon at the back all in all.

Will Aimson - 7.5

Generally solid at the back with clearances and possession throughout the encounter in tthe West Country as he continues to put in solid performance with extended run in the team.

George Johnston - 7

Good on the ball for the most part but struggled at times with physicality of Kion Etete and trickery of Alfie May earlier in the encounter, but got better as the encounter wore on.

Declan John - 8

Very bright going forward from the former Swansea City man who popped up time and again in the final third for the visitors and caused the hosts several problems.

MJ Williams - 6

Had been solid in possession for the most part in the middle of the park, but did not reemerge after the break, presumably due to injury.

Aaron Morley - 8

Bright spells in the final third and incisive passing too in a great showing in the middle of the park from the ex-Rochdale midfielder as he pulled the strings at times and was releiable in possession.

Kieran Sadlier - 7

Came into the team for Xavier Amaechi on the right flank. Squanderered great chance midway through first half with blazing effort over the bar, but made up for it with tidy finish to put hosts ahead.

Dapo Afolayan - 8

Couple of chances for the Wanderers top scorer before the break and looked one of the brightest attacking stars for the visitors. Won penalty which led to second goal and putting result beyond doubt.

Dion Charles - 6

Played on the left for a time and swapped with Afolayan at times in the first half. Few chances to speak of, but put in usual hardworking performance. Taken off before 70 minutes.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 7.5

Rewarded with start after two goals on Easter Monday and some good moments from the Iceland international in the build-up to attacks. Great work to tee up Sadlier for the opening goal.

Substitutes:

Kyle Dempsey - 7

Came on for MJ Williams at the break and looked bright in the middle of the park alongside Morley.

Elias Kachunga - 6.5

Went to the right flank after coming on and was solid. Perhaps unfortunate to not win penalty with handball shout.

Amadou Bakayoko - 7

Played through the middle and was clincal from the penalty spot as ensured he took it ahead of Afolayan in race to be top scorer.
