Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Charlton Athletic - Dion Charles, Ricardo Santos and MJ Williams good

James Trafford - 7.5

Forced the bookings of two Charlton players in the first half and stood up to most tests put to him. Couldn't do much to keep out Chuks Aneke's header.

Gethin Jones - 7

Recalled after being rested against Morecambe and looked a little rusty defensively at times against a sharp Charlton attack and was booked in first half. Grew into game though, particularly after half-time.

Ricardo Almeida Santos - 8

Captain started after having Morecambe dismissal overturned and aside from odd stray pass, was commanding at the back with one on one defending and usually in right place to snuff out danger.

Will Aimson - 7

Moved across to the left of the back three to cover the ill George Johnston and did solid job, stepping forward to distribute and start attacks. A few nervous moments in possession but a great header to put Wanderers back in front.

Marlon Fossey - 8

A livewire going forwards down the right flank and impressive work up and down the flank, causing the visitors problems, particularly in the first half.

Aaron Morley - 7.5

Contibuted to passing game and put in some decent looking crosses and set pieces, none more so with the free kick which led to Aimson's goal.

MJ Williams - 8

Key in the middle of the park to break up attacks and distribute possession for Wanderers. Importance to this team highlighted once more.

Kyle Dempsey - 7

January deadline day signing handed first start and made home debut. Like at Morecambe, flashes of what he can bring on the ball in the first half.

Declan John - 6.5

Solid if unspectacular stint at left wing-back. Did not get in behind much in the final third, compared to his colleague on the opposite flank Fossey.

Dion Charles - 9

Alive in early stages to capitalise on Addicks defensive error and finish clinically. Chased every ball and did not give defence a moment's peace in hugely impressive showing.

Dapo Afolayan - 6.5

Worked hard upfront and had the odd moment and flash of brilliance, including second half shot which went just wide. Taken off midway through second half for Bodvarsson.

Substitutes:

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 7

Saw curling effort palmed away, which would have been some first strike. Another positive impact from the bench.

Amadou Bakayoko - 6

Added extra energy from the bench. Booked in injury time.

Kieran Sadlier - 6

Looked bright when coming on.
