Bolton Wanderers confirm Harry Brockbank's transfer departure as Ian Evatt explains decision

Bolton Wanderers defender Harry Brockbank has left the club, the League One side has announced.

The 23-year-old came through the youth team ranks at Bolton and made his Wanderers debut in April 2019 against Aston Villa during the club's most recent season in the Championship.

Brockbank has made a total of 37 appearances for Wanderers in all competitions and signed a new two-year deal with Bolton last year which was due to keep him at the University of Bolton Stadium until the summer of 2023.

But he has now departed the club where he came through the youth team ranks after he joined the club at the age of seven.

He has found regular game time hard to come by this season having made only seven appearances in all competitions after falling down the pecking order in the back four.

His last appearance for Bolton proved to be as a substitute coming off the bench in the New Year's Day loss away to Rotherham United.

Brockbank is understood to to have no club at the moment but could be heading abroad to the USA.

And manager Ian Evatt believes now is the right time for Brockbank to seek pastures new as he wished him well in his future career.

“Harry has been a Bolton player for a long, long time, someone who lives locally with a great affiliation for the club,” said Evatt.

“Having had a chat with Brocky about his future we both feel it’s probably time for him to get an opportunity to further a career elsewhere.

“There’s talk of him maybe going to play in America which is good for him – with a lifestyle change and a culture change – and we wish him all the best and thank him for everything he’s done.”
