Bold Street Coffee confirms opening of second venue in city centre

A second Bold Street Coffee site is opening in Liverpool's city centre early next month.

The popular venue is often packed with customers and now, fans of the local coffee connoisseurs, will be able to enjoy its offerings in a new location on Old Hall Street.

As part of a wider re-imagining of The Plaza, award-winning hospitality group GSG Hospitality is to open its first concept in the building with a full restaurant and bar to follow in spring 2022.

Bold Street Coffee will form part of an exciting arrival experience at The Plaza, which is undergoing a £3m transformation by Bruntwood Works as they create their first “Pioneer” building in Liverpool, with the aim of putting lifestyle and well-being firmly at the centre of the working day.

Since opening in 2010, Bold Street Coffee has become a firm favourite in Liverpool. Its award-winning speciality coffee is roasted in house, and the business uses its space to support independent roasters on rotation.

Heading to the business district of the city, guests will be able to enjoy all of BSC coffees including carefully blended Flat Whites, Mocha, Espresso, Cortado, Cappuccino, Latte, Americano, Short & Long Black coffee, Piccolo and Batch Brew as well as a selection of teas and iced drinks.

BSC will be open from 7.30am until 6pm Monday to Friday initially, with weekends opening up in the coming months.

There will also be a full breakfast and brunch menu with all of BSC staples such as Buoys; a lightly toasted brioche bun filled with the likes of scrambled egg, bacon, sausage patty, and there’s vegan and veggie options available too.

Tasty Egg Boxes are on the menu including a No Carb Box, BSC Fry’s including classic and veggie, a wide selection of Butties, and On Toast options including eggs, mushrooms, avocado or salmon and eggs. There’s also sweet options; with bowls including yogurt with granola, berry compote and honey, porridge and super porridge.

Offering the highest quality coffee to the other side of the city centre, BSC will also have its home brewing and equipment available and retail coffee bags including BSC House Espresso and its Guest Roast can be purchased.

GSG Hospitality is also behind the incredibly popular Duke Street Food and Drink Market, 81 Ltd, Salt Dog Slims and Slim’s on Bold Street.

Matt Farrell, director of Bold Street Coffee, said: “Bold Street Coffee is a much-loved venue with a strong community focus and we can’t wait to welcome regulars and new guests to our second site in the city centre. Opening in the business district is really exciting for us; guests can come to BSC to work alongside enjoying their favourite coffee, or stop by for a grab and go sandwich on the way to their next meeting.

“Our focus is on the quality of House coffee and produce for our breakfast and brunch dishes. Being an independent ourselves, we love to champion other independent guest roasters which are changed every quarter and give our wall space to local artists and exhibitionists. We’ll continue to do this at our second BSC site and look forward to welcoming everyone from early February and beyond.”

Colin Forshaw, regional director of Bruntwood Works in Liverpool said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Bold Street Coffee to The Plaza and to see this exceptional ground floor experience take shape.

"Our Pioneer buildings are all about creating forward-thinking workspaces that bring together work and lifestyle, and the transformation of the ground floor on this building really embodies that… It's easily the biggest hospitality offering we’ve ever created within a workspace environment creating an arrival experience like no other.

"Together with the fantastic Graffiti Spirits Group we’re developing a brand new food and drink destination for Liverpool, right in the heart of the business district. The arrival of Bold Street Coffee represents the first step towards this ambition and we can’t wait to see it open."

Bold Street Coffee will open next month.
