Bojan Miovski shuts down Aberdeen transfer talk ahead of Rangers clash

Bojan Miovski has shut down transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Aberdeen.

The 23-year-old striker insists his full focus is on ensuring the Dons achieve European group-stage football next term by finishing in third spot of the Premiership.

The attacker has been on red-hot goalscoring form so far in his debut campaign in Scotland. The North Macedonian has netted on 18 occasions from his 38 appearances this term.

Mivoksi admits he’s desperate to smash through the 20-goal landmark before the season is out.

But not for any selfish reasons while he’s in the transfer spotlight – purely to aid the team in accomplishing their goal.

“I don't read anything,” the striker admitted ahead of tomorrow’s game with Rangers. “I just focus on Aberdeen and finishing strong in the league. I also have three years left on my contract so I don't think about this now.

“We are in third position, five points clear of fourth. From the start of the season, this was our goal, so we have five more games and every game is like a final for us.

“We have a project. We believe we can finish third and I will have opportunities to score goals. We have been in a good way until now and I hope we finish like that.

“My goal was 20 goals. I'm on 18 but still have to finish the season. Every game is important. Of course, this game against Rangers is the next one so for us we're going to win every game until the end. We start on Sunday then every game.

“We have won seven games in a row. We know playing there is always difficult, but we believe in ourselves and are in good form.

“We now have more confidence. We know it's been seven years since an Aberdeen win against Rangers at home, but we believe and we show it on the pitch.

“Against every team, I feel confident, not just against them. It doesn't matter who we play, we play our style, our football, and continue on this way.

“We have had a lot of time to rest. We didn't play this week so if it's a short period it is always hard against anyone. I think we are fresh and ready to go.”

Miovski has formed somewhat of a formidable partnership with fellow new boy Duk this term.

The pair have caused a whole host of problems to various defenders in the league. Miovski has enjoyed leading the line with a partner, especially because they both bring different qualities to Aberdeen’s attack.

He said: “It's not like a rivalry. We support each other on the pitch. I'm so happy when he scores, of course. He helps me also score goals, so I don't see it as a rivalry.

“He's stronger, he can hold the ball and I'm running behind the defenders. I think we create a lot of problems for defenders.”

The duo will inevitably attract potential suitors in the coming months with the transfer window opening again in June.

But the club’s new chief executive, Alan Burrows, insists they will be “very difficult to deal with” with regards to any sales.

He said: “Both Duk and Miovski have long-term contracts at the club, they're only in the first year of longer-term contracts. The club is under no pressure to sell any of them. The club doesn’t want to sell any of the two of them.

"The nature of football is, that the most successful you are, the more successful players are, they attract interest from other, bigger clubs.

"That's not just true of Aberdeen, that's true of almost every club in the world. What I will say and the message I would send out is if anybody wants to take out best assets away from us, particularly ones who have long contracts, we're going to be a very difficult club to deal with."
