Bojan Miovski claims no Aberdeen rivalry with Duk as transfer murmurings put out to pasture amid European hunt

Bojan Miovski wants on-form Aberdeen to seal third place in style and has insisted they will be targeting five wins.

The Dons go into the top six on the back of an impressive seven game winning streak under new boss Barry Robson. That has taken them to the brink of a European return and Miovski to clinch it in style by targeting wins against all their top six rivals, starting with tomorrow’s trip to Ibrox.

Miovski said: “It’s good. We are in third position, five points clear of fourth. It would mean a lot. This is our goal, we want to finish third and play European football. It will give us a big confidence. From the start of the season this was our goal so we have five more games and every game is like a final for us.

“Every game is important. Of course, this game against Rangers is the next one so for us we’re going to try and win every game until the end. We start from Sunday then every game.”

The Dons had last weekend off due to the Scottish Cup semis and the North Macedonia international is raring to go.

“We have had a lot of time to rest,” he added. “We didn’t play this week so if it’s a short period it is always hard against anyone. I think we are fresh and ready to go.”

Aberdeen got a big win last time out against Rangers at Pittodrie. It ended a long wait for a win against the Light Blues at home and Miovski accepts it will be even tougher in Glasgow. They, however, make the trip full of belief.

He claimed: “Of course, we have won seven games in a row. We know it is always difficult to play there but we believe in ourselves and are in good form.

“We now have more confidence. We know it’s been seven years since an Aberdeen win against Rangers at home but we believe and we showed it on the pitch.

Miovski has more than played his part with an 18 goal haul but still wants more. He scored the clincher against Rangers in the last game and also netted in the Viaplay semi-final defeat at Hampden.

The North Macedonian international stated: “My goal was 20 goals. I’m on 18 but we still have to finish the season. Against every team I feel confident, not just against them. It doesn’t matter who we play, we play our style, our football and continue on this way.”

Miovski and Duk have carried the bulk of Aberdeen’s scoring threat and sit with 18 goals each this term. The striker claimed they are more interested in the team’s success than individual glory.

The 23-year-old insisted: “No, it’s not like a rivalry. We support each other on the pitch. I’m so happy when he scores, of course.

“He helps me also score goals so I don’t see it as a rivalry. He’s more strong, he can hold the ball and I’m running behind the defenders. I think we create a lot of problems for defenders.”

Aberdeen’s upsurge has also been linked with the appointment of new manager Barry Robson. He added: “Of course I am happy.

“He (Robson) brings a lot of new things to the team, you can see. We play differently now, we’re more aggressive, we score more goals and also don’t concede a lot of goals. It’s good.

“We play differently. I speak about defensive things, so I have more defensive involvement. This brings me confidence when I get the ball from team-mates and make the transition to attack.”

Miovski has already been linked with some big-money interest but he claims he is focusing on Aberdeen and doing well here, until he is told otherwise.

“I just focus on Aberdeen and to finish strong in the league,” the Aberdeen No. 9 claimed. "I also have three years left on my contract so I don’t think about this now.”
