Bohs and BIMM have teamed up to provide a new scholarship that will give those in direct provision a chance to study music.
The new programme was launched today and it means that former or current resident of direct provision can access a degree in music. Bohs has worked through the Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland (MASI) with people in direct provision for several years, and this year the sale of the club's Bob Marley away shirt has helped provide funding for the new music scholarship.
The BA (Hons) Commercial Modern Music course at BIMM is for four years, and fees worth worth up to €12,000 will paid in full for the duration of the course. It's open for those who wish to study the drums, guitar, bass, vocals and songwriting, and it is a full-time degree course validated by Technological University Dublin.

Lucky Khambule from MASI said that they are "delighted" to be part of the project. He said: “People in the asylum system face many difficulties and being able to enjoy music can truly brighten up their lives."
Bohs COO Daniel Lambert added: “Music and sport are two of people’s great loves, and at Bohemian FC we have worked in recent years to connect these two passions, most notably working with the Bob Marley estate and with Fontaines DC on our 2021 and 2022 shirts. Another area we have worked tirelessly on is the plight of migrants and in particular the need for the system of Direct Provision to end.
"We are now connecting all three, inspired by the scholarship offered by Fontaines DC last year, and made possible by profits of the Marley shirt this year, to cover the full costs of four-year degree in modern music. We would also like to thank Daragh Lynch of Lankum who will assist in the process."
BIMM Principal Alan Cullivan said that the college is fully committed to helping students reach their full potential. He said: “At BIMM, we are fully commitment to inclusion and focus one education and encouraging Ireland’s next generation of musicians and creative artists and this Bohemian FC scholarship initiative will go someway to achieving this aim."
