Bohemians hope to bolster their defence with Josh Kerr signing

Bohemians have moved to strengthen their defensive options by signing former Celtic starlet Josh Kerr from Airdrie.

Kerr, 24, is a centre-back who has previous experience of the Premier Division, having gone on loan to Derry City from Brighton in 2019.

Subject to international clearance, the centre-back will be eligible to play for the Gypsies when the transfer window opens on July 1.

Kerr was with Celtic as a youngster up to under-20 level before joining Brighton five years ago.

He is Keith Long's third signing of the summer following the arrival of full-back Ryan Burke from Mansfield Town and midfielder John O’Sullivan from Accrington Stanley.

Bohs are currently in seventh place in the top flight and have conceded as many goals - 24 - as they have scored in the current campaign.

Kerr played 27 times for Airdrie last term and Long commented: “We are delighted that Josh has signed for Bohemians and we are looking forward to working with him.

“It is a position where we felt we needed to strengthen competition, and we are delighted that we have been able to do so.

“We believe Josh can improve us as a team – he has good first-team experience with Airdrie, and as well as that he already has experience of our league from his time with Derry City.”
