Body recovered from Scottish river following police search

THE body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow

Officers were called to Clyde Street at around 10.30pm last night, March 26, after receiving a report of concern for a person

Emergency services carried out an extensive search and found the body at around 5.40am this morning.

The death is being treated as unexplained, though not suspicious, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police had closed access to Victoria Bridge between Clyde Street and Ballater Street.

The road was opened again this morning and police said the body was recovered from the Clyde.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.30pm on Wednesday, March 26, we received a report of a concern for a person in the Clyde Street area of Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended, and an extensive search was carried out.

“Around 5.40am on Thursday, March 27, the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde near to Broomielaw.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
