Gardai are investigating after the body of a man was found in a river channel in Cork city yesterday evening
Emergency services and gardai were alerted and raced to the scene in the River Lee near Douglas shortly after 5 pm.
Following a recovery operation, the body was taken from shallow water.

The man, believed to be aged in his late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Garda spokesperson told CorkBeo: "Gardai were alerted to the discovery of a body of a male in the River Lee near Douglas, Co. Cork on Monday afternoon, 6th March.
"Following a recovery operation by gardai and emergency services, the body of the man was taken from the water at approximately 5.50 pm yesterday.
"The body of the man was taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place later today. The results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
"Investigations are ongoing."
Anybody with information, who may have seen a man enter the water in Douglas yesterday afternoon, or know of a man in his 30s or possibly early 40s missing from home, should contact the Gardai at Anglesea Street.
