Body of woman pulled from Scots river as police launch bid to identify victim

The body of a woman was pulled from a Scots river this morning, prompting police to launch enquiries into determining the identity of the deceased.

The body was recovered from the River Tay near to Tay Street in the Fife town of Newport-on-Tay.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The body of a woman has been recovered from water near to Tay Street, Newport on Tay this morning, Monday 14 February 2022.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify the woman.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
