Body of woman found at Scots flat as cops launch probe and cordon off scene

Police have launched a probe after a woman was found dead at a flat in Ayr.

Officers raced to the property on Nursery Hall in the South Ayrshire town after the alarm was raised at around 10.15am on Monday. A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem examination is yet to take place, however cops are currently treating the death as "unexplained". Pictures taken from the scene this afternoon showed a large area of the street cordoned off by officers.
