The neighbour of the man reported seeing as many as six forensic officers removing items and boxes from the flat, and said that he hadn't actually seen him in months.
The neighbour told the Record: "I hadn't seen him for six months and I've not seen the guy who lets the property for around three months.
"The police were there from 6pm and caused a traffic jam and they were there until around 5am the next morning.
"I've got an ex-partner and kids and I'm just sitting here thinking 'is that going to be me one day?'"
Cops reportedly carried out door-to-door enquires at the scene to help establish what may have occurred within the property.
Police confirmed that enquiries are continuing and that a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
