The body of a man who has been missing for more than a month has been found on a beach near Swansea. South Wales Police confirmed a body that was found on Horton Beach in the Gower on Saturday, April 30 has been identified as 58-year-old David Stewart.

Mr Stewart was previously reported missing from his home in the West Cross area of Swansea having last been seen on Friday, April 1. He was described by police at the time as being of slim build, white, with short thin hair, stubble, and freckles, wearing glasses and a blue coat.

Officers confirmed on Thursday that the body discovered on Horton Beach at the weekend had been formally identified as that of Mr Stewart.

A South Wales Police statement read: "At midday on Saturday morning, April 30, a report was received of a body on Horton Beach, Gower. Formal identification procedures have now been carried out and the body has been formally identified as missing 58 year-old David Stewart, from West Cross.

"Our thoughts remain with David’s family at this difficult time."
