A body of a man has been found next to the M4 in south Wales, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to a ‘police incident’ on Sunday afternoon, resulting in two lanes of the eastbound stretch of the motorway between junction 22 and junction 23A near the Prince of Wales Bridge being closed for several hours.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after 12.45pm on Sunday, with both lanes being blocked to traffic until around 5.20pm. You can get the latest WalesOnline newsletters e-mailed to you directly for free by signing up here.
Officers have now confirmed that the body of a man was found just off the motorway. The identity or age of the man has yet to be released, along with a cause of death.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: "We can confirm that the body of a man was found just off the M4 after junction 23 eastbound, at about 12.45pm on Sunday. We’re currently liaising with the Gwent coroner to ascertain the cause of death. The death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.”
