Body of man, 60s, discovered in north Dublin river

A body of a man in his 60's has been found in a north Dublin river this morning.

The man was discovered in the Santry River in Raheny at around 9:30am today.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been moved to the Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will take place.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live an investigation has been launched into the grim discovery.

He said: "Gardaí in Raheny are investigating the discovery of a body of man in his 60s in the River Santry near Raheny Village at approximately 9:30am on Friday, 4th February, 2022.

"The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. The Coroner was notified and the deceased has since been removed to the Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

"The results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation."
