Body in Grand Union canal identified as alleged killer’s mother Karima Nour

A woman whose dismembered body parts were recovered from a canal in west London is the alleged killer’s own mother, it can be revealed.

Arizo Nour, 33, is accused of killing her mother Karima Nour, 57, before making an attempt to dispose of her remains on August 6.

She appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday charged with murder, and was remanded in custody by Judge Simon Mayo KC until a further hearing in December.

On Monday, the victim’s identity was revealed for the first time, a week after the grisly canal discovery.

Last week, prosecutor Louise Oakley told the Old Bailey that police had first been called to Mrs Nour’s home in Feltham after family concerns about her welfare.

They were then led to a bridge over the Grand Union Canal off Bulls Bridge Lane, Southall, and searches located “the presence of a suitcase in the canal”.

“Human body remains were recovered”, said Ms Oakley. “A second suitcase was identified and further human body remains were identified.”

She also revealed that a bag with a head inside had been found in the canal on Thursday night.

At court on Friday, Mrs Nour’s daughter appeared via videolink from HMP Bronzefield where she spoke only to confirm her identity.

Judge Mayo set a timetable for the progress of her case, with a plea hearing set for December 1.

Nour, from Northumberland Crescent, Feltham, was remanded in custody until the next court hearing.
