Body found on beach in search for schoolboy, 14, who went missing the day before

Following a gruelling two day search, the body of a teenage boy has been tragically found on a beach in Dublin.

The Irish Police (Gardai) closed off part of a beach on Thursday afternoon, after the body of a boy was found, report Dublin Live.

Laytown beach in Co Meath, just 20 minutes outside of Dublin, was partially closed after the devastating discovery of the body of a 14-year-old was found.

The search for Bilal Tunkara had been ongoing since Wednesday, with the tragic find made a day later.

It has been reported that officers immediately cordoned off the scene.

The Irish Coast Guard also assisted in the search of the missing boy before the news broke out.

Speaking about the tragedy, a garda spokesperson said: "Following the discovery of a body in Laytown, Co. Meath this afternoon, Thursday, 11th August 2022, the search for missing person Bilal Tunkara has been stood down.

"An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required and no further information is available at this time."
