A body found near an Ayrshire hill has been been formally identified as missing man Colin McKerrell.
Police confirmed this afternoon that the 58-year-old was discovered near Mochrum Hill in Maybole just after 10am.
The Irvine man was reported missing yesterday after his family last saw him around 10am and it was thought he'd travelled in his red Mercedes car.
However officers have confirmed that Colin's body has been formally identified.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man found near Mochrum Hill, Maybole, around 10.10am on Tuesday, September 20, has been formally identified as 58-year-old Colin McKerrell.
"His family have been informed and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
