The body of a man was found in the water at Salthouse Dock on Easter Sunday.
Merseyside Police confirmed emergency services were called to Salthouse Dock in the city centre at around 10.15am yesterday morning, Sunday, April 9 following reports of a body in the water. A spokesperson for the force said a man was confirmed dead at the scene by crews from North West Ambulance Service.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) was also in attendance to remove the body from the water. Images sent to the ECHO by a passer-by showed a large MFRS cordon and a forensic tent on the dock walkway.

A considerable police presence remained around the area and several officers guarded the entrance to the Salthouse Dock. The docks were noticeably quieter than usual due to it being Easter Sunday.
Enquiries are now ongoing to identify the man and to inform his next of kin. A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death will take place. A force spokesperson confirmed the man's death is being treated as unexplained.
