Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man's body in a submerged car at West Beach in Adelaide this morning.

Police were called at 6am amid reports two cars were in the water near the West Beach boat ramp.

The cars had reportedly gone into the water at some stage overnight.

Water police searched the scene and found the body of a 54-year-old Northern Territory man in the driver's seat of a Toyota 4WD.

The other vehicle, a partially submerged Mitsubishi 4WD, was unoccupied.

Police then spoke with the owner of the Mitsubishi at an adjacent caravan park.

SA Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and no criminal offences "have been disclosed at this time".

They said they would prepare a report for the coroner.

They asked anyone who attended the boat ramp overnight or anyone who has any information that may assist them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
