A body has been found in a secluded area of an Aberdeenshire village during the search for a missing Scots woman.
Officers made the discovery at 10am today near Tarves.
While formal identification is still to take place, the family of Ruth Watt have been informed.
A went search was underway to trace the missing 51-year-old, who vanished on Tuesday, June 21.
Ruth was last seen on Mackie Avenue in Tarves, with officers believing she had been driving a "distinctive" blue Suzuki Ignis.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 10am this morning, Saturday, June 25, the body of a woman was found by officers in a secluded area near to Tarves, Aberdeenshire.
"Formal identification has still to take place but the family of Ruth Watt, who has been missing from the area since June 21 have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
