Police searching for a missing woman have informed her family that a body has been found.
Gwent Police had been searching for Emily Bomken since she went missing on Saturday, November 12. Officers had been searching the River Severn for the 39-year-old from Tidenham Chase, Gloucestershire.
On Wednesday, a force spokesperson said Gwent Police, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service had been called to Beach Road in the St Brides area of Newport on Saturday, November 19, to reports of a woman being found unresponsive. Officers attended the scene at 5.30pm and paramedics confirmed the woman had died.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, the force said, but the death is not being treated as suspicious. “The family of missing woman Emily Bomken have been informed,” Gwent Police said. “A report has been submitted to the coroner in relation to the death.”
Searches for Ms Bomken have involved the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA), who have been at the Severn doing patrols. Officers were joined by marine rescuers on Severnside as they searched for the missing woman.
