Body found in search for missing schoolboy

A body has been found after a search for a missing schoolboy.

Police previously issued an appeal to help find 14-year-old Eric Lin who was last seen in the Bell Crescent area of Manchester at around 7.45pm on Sunday, July 2. Enquiries suggested the teenager had taken a bus to Cheshire, so Cheshire Constabulary began leading the investigation and issued a series of appeals.

When Eric was last seen he was wearing a black puffer jacket and black and white trainers, with a white sole. On Thursday, police confirmed a body had been found in Warrington.

Officers said formal identification was yet to take place, however Eric’s family have been informed. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies of GMP City of Manchester North district said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with Eric’s loved ones at this difficult time. Formal identification is yet to take place, so we would ask that they have privacy whilst the investigation continues.”
