Body found in search for missing man who travelled to Scotland

A body has been found during a police search for a missing man who had travelled to Scotland.

Umar Khan, who had links to Leicester and London, disappeared from England over a week ago and had made his way to Glasgow.

Cops believe the 24-year-old then boarded a FlixBus from the city to Aberdeen, which would have arrived at around 2.50pm on Tuesday, August 23.

The young man was also believed to have been on the Torry to Cove coast road and path, near Doonies Farm, at around 2pm on Thursday, August 25.

It is understood Umar had no known connections in the Aberdeenshire area and so a search investigation was launched as worries grew.

However, today, officers have confirmed that the body of a man was pulled from the water in the Gregness area of Cove. Umar's family have been informed.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
