A body has been found in the search for a man reported missing from Airdrie.

Martin Simpson disappeared from his home on Sunday night with the alarm raised when he failed to show up for work on Monday.

The 54-year-old's disappearance was described as 'so out of character' by his daughter Donna who made an emotional appeal for information on his whereabouts.

Police have now confirmed that a body has been discovered during the search for Martin.

His family has been made aware and there are no suspicious circumstances.

Posting on social media, Martin's daughter Donna thanked the public for their support.

She said: "Thank you very much for everyone who has shared the post to help find our dad, unfortunately a body has been found and is confirmed as Martin. You are loved more than you know dad."

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
