The body of missing man Evan Reid has been found in Paisley.
The 31-year-old’s body was recovered from the White Cart Water this morning, two weeks after he was reported missing.
A large police presence was spotted beneath the White Cart viaduct before Police Scotland confirmed the tragic discovery.
His family say they are "heartbroken". Dad-of-one Evan was reported missing on Saturday March 25.
He had been on the train home to Irvine when he appeared agitated and departed the train at Paisley Gilmour Street station at 9.40pm.
He was later spotted on CCTV on Weir Street and Love Street, with a final confirmed sighting at Inchinnan Road, near the White Cart River and Glasgow Airport at 10.11pm.
Police are understood to have searched parts of the White Cart River in the days following his disappearance and last week stopped cars and pedestrians in the area in a bid to jog people’s memories.
In a statement issued today, the Renfrewshire force said: “The body of a man was found in the White Cart Water near Arran Avenue in Paisley around 9.55am on Monday, April 10.
“He is still to be formally identified but the family of Evan Reid, 31, who had been reported missing on Saturday, March 25 have been made aware.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
In a short post on social media Kyle Reid, Even’s brother said he was “heartbroken”.
He wrote on Facebook, “sleep easy little brother”.
Evan’s partner Nicole earlier told the Express that his disappearance was “completely out of character”.
She said she had received a message from him while he was on the train stating something “dodgy” was going on.
That was her last contact with him.
Nicole, who shares a three-year-old daughter with Evan, had said she was “worried beyond belief” about him and was doing her best “to hold it together”.
She was one of dozens of people to take part in a search for Evan in Paisley on Saturday.
Over 70 people from Ayrshire and Renfrewshire came together to take part in the mass search which had centred around different parts of the town and surrounding areas.
They unfortunately could not find any trace of him at that time.
