A body has been found in the search for a man who fell into water in Edinburgh.
A huge emergency response was scrambled to the scene at around 11.30pm on Friday, February 3, following reports of a man submerged at Victoria Quay in the Leith area of the capital.
Police Scotland, Coastguard crews, Scottish Fire and Rescue teams and paramedics were drafted in as part of the hefty operation, with specialist search resources working tirelessly over the weekend to trace him.
Sadly, officers have now confirmed that a body of a man was recovered shortly after 12:30pm on Sunday, February 5. His identity is not yet known, but there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Sunday, February 5, 2023, officers recovered the body of a man from the water at Victoria Quay in the Leith area of Edinburgh.
“Enquiries are still ongoing to identify the man and establish the full circumstances but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
