A body has been found in a Lanarkshire town in the search for a missing man.
Officers made the discovery around 4pm yesterday in the Devonburn Road area of Lesmahagow, near Lanark.
While formal identification is still to take place, the family of Stephen McGinily have been informed.
A search was launched to trace the missing 51-year-old, who vanished yesterday morning.
Stephen was last seen leaving his home address in the Quarter area of Hamilton.
The death is being treated as unexplained, but cops believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's passing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man was found in the Devonburn Road area of Lesmahagow, around 4pm yesterday (Thursday, 14 July, 2022.)
"Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of Stephen McGinily, 51, who was reported missing from the Quarter area of Hamilton, has been made aware.
"The death is being treated as unexplained, but there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
