Body found in river near Newtown

A body has been found in the River Severn near Newtown, police have confirmed. Dyfed Powys Police report the body was discovered early in the afternoon of Wednesday, April 20.

The body has not yet been formally identified, however the family of a man who had been reported missing in the Newtown area have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

The discovery was confirmed in a statement by Dyfed Powys Police on the morning of April 21. A spokesperson said: "Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that a body was found in the River Severn near Newtown early on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 20 2022.
