Body found in Howth as gardai confirm search for man missing for two weeks stood down

The search for a man missing from Dublin for two weeks has been stood down following the discovery of a body in Howth.

Michael Griffin was reported missing on Thursday, October 6. He was last seen in the Lord Edward Street area of Dublin 2 on that date and was understood to be heading towards O’Connell Street.

Gardai issued multiple missing persons appeals for the 66-year-old in the weeks since his disappearance, including CCTV images, describing him as 5’10” tall and of strong build.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed today that a the missing persons appeal has been stood down following the discovery of a body.

They confirmed that a body was found in Howth last Friday, October 21.

Gardai have thanked the public for their help tracing Mr Griffin.

A spokesperson said: “No further action is required and no further information is available at this time. We would like to thank the public and media for their assistance in this matter.”
