A investigation is underway after a woman was kidnapped from her south-west Sydney home by masked invaders, with police later discovering a body currently believed to be hers in a burnt-out car close by.
Police have not yet identified the body.
Neighbours reported hearing screams and a speeding car to police when the attack occurred on Thursday night.

According to police, the unknown attackers were armed with a gun and hit the woman’s eight-year-old son with a baseball bat, in front of her and her 15-year-old son.
Paramedics took the two children to hospital for assessment and treatment once at the scene.
Police were called to Welfare Avenue North in the Sydney suburb of Beverly Hills just before 11:30pm, after receiving reports of a burning car in the area. There, police found a burnt body in the car’s backseat.
“We don’t know if it’s organised crime, we don’t know if it’s gang related,” superintendent Rodney Hart said in an address to the media.

One shaken female neighbour recounted the event to the media, stating that it “sounded like someone was about to die” after hearing a woman screaming at around 10pm.
“I came outside and saw a Mercedes speed past,” she said.
Another neighbour, not named for privacy reasons, described the event as “shocking”.
“I am in shock that this could have happened, she is just a sweet woman who keeps to herself,” said the anonymous neighbour.
It is not yet confirmed if the body found inside of the burnt car belongs to the same woman who was kidnapped last night, and police have closed off all entrances to the street where the car was found.
The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with helpful information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
