A body has been found after a hunt was launched for a 21-year-old university student who went missing after a night out.
Joseph Derbisz, 21, was last seen at a University of Birmingham nightclub in the early hours of Sunday before becoming separated from his friends.
Campus security guards found the body only 250m from the university's Guild of Students this afternoon.
Formal identification is yet to take place, but officers believe it is the third year student who vanished Sunday.
Fire crews were called in to recover the body from near to a car park.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Officers searching for missing Joseph Derbisz have sadly found the body of a man off Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham, today.
“The 21-year-old was last seen in the early hours of yesterday.
“Although formal identification has yet to take place, Joseph’s family have been informed.
“We are not treating the death as suspicious and our sympathies remain with his family.”
After the 21-year-old student left Fab n Fresh at around 3:30am, a night out at the university’s student union, he failed to make it home to Selly Oak where he lived.
The alarm was raised when Joseph failed to turn up to visit his family in Rugby, Warwickshire, for Mother’s Day.
Friends told police that the sudden disappearance of Joseph, who studied mechanical engineering, was “completely out of character for him”
They revealed it was “very unlike him not to come home" and they were “extremely worried.”
Housemate Charles Fernando told the BirminghamLive: “We are all extremely concerned about Joe and this is so out of character for him.
“It’s really scary because we don’t have much clue at all about where he could be. He could be anywhere.
“If anyone has heard anything, no matter how small, please get in touch as soon as possible. We really appreciate all the effort everyone has made."
Rachel Thorp, another housemate, added: “We’re very worried. He can be vulnerable when drunk.”
Police described Joseph's disappearance as "completely out of character for him."
Police enlisted the help of a drone and helicopter to try and track Joseph’s movements.
But a body was found in a car park, often used as a cut-through by students, shortly after midday.
Missing person flyers have been put up around the campus and in the surrounding Selly Oak area where he lives.
Photos of Joseph have also been circulating on social media for the last 24 hours, with appeals re-shared thousands of times.
It is believed he is studying mechanical engineering at the university and is also a part time maths tutor, according to LinkedIn.
He was wearing a blue polo shirt with jeans when he was last spotted.
